About Archaeological Museum, Durrës

The Archaeological Museum of Durrës, founded in 1951 and the largest archaeological museum in Albania, stands on the seafront near the 6th-century Byzantine walls. It displays finds from ancient Epidamnos and Roman Dyrrachium: sculpture, funerary steles, ceramics, coins and mosaics. Badly damaged and looted in the unrest of 1997, it has been restored. Allow an hour, and combine it with the amphitheatre and the Venetian Tower nearby.
