Built by Haxhi Et’hem Bey beside his mosque in 1822, the Clock Tower was long the tallest building in town and is now a symbol of the city, featured in the municipal emblem. Climb its ninety or so narrow steps for a fine view over Skanderbeg Square, the Palace of Culture and the boulevard, with Mount Dajti behind. Opening hours vary, and there is a small fee. It is a quick, rewarding stop combined with the mosque next door.
