About Former residence of Enver Hoxha (Vila 31)
The modernist villa on Rruga Ismail Qemali in Blloku was the home of Enver Hoxha, Albania’s communist leader from 1944 to 1985, and the reason the quarter was closed to ordinary citizens. Its comfortable 1970s interiors were a world away from how most Albanians lived. It has since been converted into an artists’ residence with the French foundation Art Explora; it is not a regular museum, so look out for exhibitions or open days, and otherwise view it from the street.
