About University of Tirana

The main building of the University of Tirana closes the southern end of the main boulevard on Mother Teresa Square. It was designed by the Italian architect Gherardo Bosio at the beginning of 1940, as part of the grand Italian plan for the city, and became the university’s home when the State University of Tirana was founded in 1957 by merging five institutes. Its rationalist façade, with the Archaeological Museum on one side, makes a fine backdrop at sunset, and the Grand Park begins just behind.
