About Tirana Botanical Garden
Work on the Botanical Garden began in 1964 and was completed in 1971, alongside the lake at the southern end of the Grand Park. It belongs to the University of Tirana and once grew around two thousand Albanian and exotic species; today it covers about 14.5 hectares, a little less than before, as apartment blocks have crept in at the edges. It is a peaceful place for a walk among the trees and flower beds, and it sits right next to the zoo, so it pairs well with a family afternoon.
