About Zekate House

Zekate House, built in the early 19th century, is one of the most impressive tower houses in Gjirokastër, with twin towers joined by an arched upper gallery. Climb the steep lane above the town to reach it; inside are the guest rooms, carved ceilings and fireplaces, and from the top floor a superb view of the castle and the valley. The family still looks after it. It is a short but steep climb, so wear good shoes, and combine it with Skenduli House.
