The Blue Eye spring
A spring of impossible blue
About The Blue Eye spring
The Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër) is a karst spring near the village of Muzinë, between Sarandë and Gjirokastër, where water wells up from a deep, intense blue pool in the woods; divers have gone down fifty metres without finding the bottom. It is the source of the Bistricë river, and the area is a protected natural monument. Swimming is not allowed. Come early or late to avoid the crowds, and walk the riverside path from the car park.
