About Porto Palermo Castle
Porto Palermo’s triangular castle stands on a little peninsula in a calm bay a few kilometres south of Himarë. It is the best preserved of the fortresses built by Ali Pasha of Tepelena, the powerful Ottoman ruler of the region in the early 19th century, and you can explore its dark rooms and climb to the roof. The bay, with Llamani beach, is due to become a protected landscape. Swim in the clear water after your visit.
