National Museum of Education
The first Albanian school
About National Museum of Education
The National Museum of Education occupies the building of the first school to teach in the Albanian language, opened in Korçë on 7 March 1887, a date still celebrated as Teachers’ Day across the country. Its classrooms, books and documents tell the story of the long struggle to educate children in their own language under Ottoman rule. It is small and quietly moving. Allow half an hour; it is a few minutes from the cathedral.
