About Muradie Mosque
The Muradie Mosque stands on a central square in Vlorë, surrounded by streets on all four sides. It was built between 1537 and 1542, during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and is attributed to Mimar Sinan, the greatest architect of the Ottoman Empire, whose mosques fill Istanbul. Its stone walls, dome and slender minaret make it one of the most elegant Ottoman buildings in Albania. It is a cultural monument; visitors are welcome outside prayer times.
