Buses run from Tirana to Gjirokastër in around four hours, many continuing to Sarandë. From Gjirokastër it is about an hour to Sarandë, passing close to the Blue Eye spring. By car, combine it with Berat on the way down, or with the Riviera on a round trip. The old town is steep and partly closed to traffic, so park in the new town or by your hotel. Stay a night to see the stone town lit up after dark.
