Getting to Berat

Buses and furgons run from Tirana to Berat several times a day, taking about two and a half hours; check which terminal they leave from, usually the South and North terminal or Tirana East. By car it is around two hours via the motorway to Fier or Lushnjë. Berat combines well with Apollonia and, further south, Gjirokastër. Stay at least one night to see the castle at sunrise and the windows lit up after dark; a day trip is possible but rushed.
