The mountain with holes

About Mali me Gropa

Mali me Gropa, “the mountain with holes”, is a massif east of Tirana between Dajti National Park and the Martanesh highlands, part of the Mali me Gropa–Bizë–Martanesh protected landscape. Its plateau is pitted with giant karst holes formed in the ice age, some more than a hundred metres deep, and its highest peak, Maja e Mecekut, reaches 1,818 metres. It is a destination for hikers and mountaineers, often snow-covered in winter. Go with a local guide and a four-wheel-drive vehicle; there are few services.
