About Karaburun-Sazan Marine Park
Karaburun-Sazan Marine Park protects more than 125 square kilometres of sea around the Karaburun peninsula and Sazan island, at the meeting of the Adriatic and the Ionian. Its wild coast of cliffs, caves, coves and clear water is home to rich marine life, and it is recognised as a specially protected area of Mediterranean importance. Sazan, Albania’s largest island and a former military zone, has been open to visitors since 2015. In summer, boat trips leave from Vlorë and Orikum.
